2011 Budget Breakfast with Hon. Anne Craine MHK Treasury Minister
It gives us great pleasure to announce that Mrs. Craine has kindly agreed to continue the annual Budget Breakfast presentation to the business community. As previously the JCC presentation takes place the morning after the Minister has presented to Tynwald. This is our flagship annual event and we are happy that Mrs. Craine is eager to continue the relationship.
Mrs. Craine’s first budget comes at a difficult economic period. Our VAT sharing agreement with the UK continues to be a hot topic along with public sector efficiency, pension liabilities and Manx inflation concerns after latest figures of 5.5%. On the global stage, the banking crisis has moved to sovereign debt issues in Greece, Ireland etc., After a tough budget last year, which included raising personal taxation rates, it will be intriguing to see what is proposed for 2011. Current growth areas appear to be in e-gaming and space industries.
Many consider hard times lie ahead and belts need to be tightened further through the continuing world recession and recovery. In any event, I am sure that what Mrs. Craine will have to say will be of extreme interest and value to our Members and your businesses.
Following Mrs. Craine’s presentation there will be a unique opportunity for questions and answers, with the chance for you to put your questions directly to her.
JCC extend our thanks to Barclays Wealth for supporting this popular and informative event.
